Definition: These are downloadable files with unclassified depth data for general use. Depth information is referenced to nautical chart zero level defined in Norway. Coastal contours, coastal construction and islets/awash rocks are referenced to the medium high tide level. This depth data is the basis for the navigational products and the services of the Norwegian Hydrographic Service. Depths. The depth curves are selected in accordance with the Armed Forces navigation plan, i.e., 50m between depths, and the following curve intervals: 2, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and so on. Areas that have not been surveyed are also described in this dataset.

Usage

Depth data can be used for planning, modeling, illustrations, research and analysis in connection with, for example: - coastal zone planning - development in ports and coastal zones - environmental monitoring - geological surveys - preliminary mass calculation - the basis for different types of thematic maps - pre-design of various petroleum activities - planning of fisheries and aquaculture - support for conservation areas - support for emergency plans - pre-planning of sea cables / pipeline routes The depth data is only in saltwater, not fresh water. The depth data set is also available as a WMS and WFS service. If you need high-resolution depth data, please use Sjømålingsdata.
