Owner: Norges geologiske undersøkelse
Description: This cartography symbolizes grain size data according to which grain fraction is most abundant in the upper part of the seabed sediments (approx. 10 cm). Dominant grain size is based on an indicative percentage value per grain size class and is divided into five levels, adapted to NiN version 3.0.
Use: Bottom sediments are an important environmental variable in mapping habitat types. The local environmental factor "dominant grain size" is used i.a. for further classification of the main type "aphotic saltwater sediment bottom", which covers large parts of Norwegian sea areas.
Key feature of the cartography: Symbolizes polygons in ESRI file geodatabase
Dataset name: Seabed sediments - Grain size
