Seismiske linjer, 2D

Definition: Seismic lines, 2D shows where NGU has collected seismic data and sediment sonar data. The database also contains data from MAREANO and external data, including from IKU (Institute for Continental Shelf Surveys).

Usage

Seismic data and data from sediment sonar are used to interpret the sediment types on and below the seabed. With the help of these data, one can interpret sediment thickness, map landforms on and below the seabed, and get an indication of how old the sediments are. Seismic/sediment echo sounder data is necessary for producing geological maps of the seabed.

Explanation of assessment of FAIR principles:

There have made various tests to evaluate datasets in relation to the FAIR criteria. These are our interpretations, which then assess the criteria in relation to standards and protocols used for spatial data in Norway and Europe. For more information on which calculations we use for each indicator, look at the details of FAIR assessments for each specific dataset.
