Hydroelectric power system - utilised catchments

Definition: This dataset includes the hydroelectric power system as administered by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate. The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate's administration system also deals with dams for purposes other than hydroelectric power production. Regulated lakes affect the watercourses irrespective of purpose, and hence they are also included in our administration systems. The dataset includes all dams and regulated lakes irrespective of purpose. The specification includes both operational and non-operational plants. The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate deals with applications for licences pursuant to the Energy Act and/or watercourses legislation for the construction of hydroelectric power stations and other plants along watercourses. The undeveloped plants include projects dealt with in the watercourse licensing process and the residual potential where no licence has been applied for.
