Inspire - Protected Sites

Definition: The dataset includes area designated or managed within a framework of international, Community and Member States' legislation to achieve specific conservation objectives. According to IUCN and adopted for the INSPIRE context a protected site is: An area of land and/or sea especially dedicated to the protection and maintenance of biological diversity, and of natural and associated cultural resources, and managed through legal or other effective means.
