Usage

The terrain model is suitable for various kinds of terrain visualisation for production of elevations and mountain shadow, for example. It is also suitable for calculating terrain slopes and terrain profiles and for basic mapping of areas where there is a risk of landslides. The terrain model is also used in flight simulators and to identify coverage areas for radar, TV and mobile phone services. Terrain models are absolutely necessary for geometric correction when producing orthophotos.
