Definition: The data display registered occurrences, prospective areas, and documented deposits of various mineral resources (metallic ores, industrial minerals and nature stone). The data set contains well-documented deposits (measured or estimated resources or reserves and is classified in public importance), prospective areas (prospects; based on preliminary and/or previous exploration), occurrences (significance and amount of available geological information is variable) and mineral resource provinces. Documented deposits are classified by public importance; international, national, regional, local, little or no importance and not assessed. Classifications may change without further notice. Data are and has been gathered over a long period and are continually updated.

Usage

The service serves primarily municipalities and Norway Digital stakeholders and can be utilized by prospecting companies and the academic community. Polygons of deposits and prospective areas may be use as a base of consideration zones (as mentioned in the Planning and Building Act, §11-8, letter c).
