Definition: Sedimentary environment describes processes that presently influence the seabed with respect to erosion, sediment transport and sediment deposition. The dataset series comprise two datasets: Sedimentary environment, detailed, and Sedimentary environment, regional. The two individual datasets are digitized in different scales and have different data coverage.

Usage

The data of this dataset series can be used as basis for areal planning, environmental planning, habitat mapping, vulnerability analyzes, impact analysis in connection with installations on the seabed, location of aquaculture farms etc. The sedimentary environment map provides an indication of the velocity (strength) and direction of the bottom currents and how they influence the seabed .
