Depth data, Oslofjorden. Bathymetry model 1m-grid

Status: Submitted

Definition: The depth model is a regular bathymetry grid for the inner Oslofjord. The basis for the dataset is detailed depth data collected using interferometric sonar and multi-beam sonar.

Usage

Bathymetry is closely linked to seabed geology and submarine processes, and is one of the most important parameters in the marine environment. Depth has a lot to say for water temperature, salinity, light conditions, currents, oxygen content, etc. which in turn affect biological and chemical processes in the ocean. Water depth and bottom relief are also of great importance for human activities at sea: transport, aquaculture, installations on the seabed, development, etc. The data set can be used to present depth and terrain variations in the Oslofjorden for modeling and terrain analyzes, as a basis for area and environmental planning, habitat mapping, vulnerability analyzes, etc.
